Let me portray a scenario for you. You are a student who graduated from highschool in one state and moved to Virginia shortly thereafter with the intent of establishing residency there. As soon as you move to Va you register your vehicle in Va, register as a Virginia voter, and acquire a Virginia address. A year has passed and you have completed such actions as living in Virginia for an entire year and have more than enough proof to say that you are in Virginia as a permanet resident, you have even payed Virginia property tax. Now, you have applied for in-state tuition at ODU and you are denied because you are under the age 24 and your parents are residents of another state. You didn't get a job during that year because of your demanding school schedule so you don't have a Virginia income tax form, but you meet every other relevant requirement. Basically, because you are under 24 (most students will graduate long before age 24) the university decides to go by your parents information (individuals who aren't going to the university, they are only sending money to their son/daughter as support) and decide that their child isn't eligible for in-state tuition. Does that seem right to you Please sign this petition, we must do something about this injustice before more students become victims to it.

This policy is actual garbage. I moved here and do everything a resident does but because my parents live in MD the school wants to charge me double. Absolutely ridiculous.
