We the undersigned feel strongly that Usenet group the "UVA.want-ads" should not be retired this year. The UVA want ads is an extremely unique service that cannot be duplicated by other internet or web classifieds. First and foremost, it is essentially limited to the UVA community. This protects those that post and answer these advertisements because all, or most, of the posters and responders are easily traceable and work or attend the University. There has been very little SPAM in this newsgroup and almost no solicitation from scams. Finally, there is a camaraderie in the group that cannot be duplicated. None of these qualities exist in the Craistlist.org or other online classified sites.
