Hate speech of any form against any groups should not be published in The Diamondback. Hate speech in our university newspaper is a threat to our diversity at the University of Maryland and should not be tolerated. The F.L.A.M.E. advertisements, in particular, fallaciously incite fear, disgust, and outrage that marginalize the Arab and Muslim students, faculty, and staff.
For this reason, we demand that The Diamondback and Maryland Media Inc. stop publishing anti-Arab, anti-Muslim advertisements and create a policy that will prevent the publication of hate speech of any form against any group in the newspaper. This sort of rhetoric has no place on our college campus.
