We, the parents, players and friends of the UOV Aces Bantam Hockey Team believe that the UOV Aces Executive should remove the ban on the wearing of our team's hockey pant shells. Although these pants do not follow the UOV Aces dress code to the letter we believe the spirit of the dress policy has been followed by insuring that every member of our team wears identical pant shells. These pants were a private gift to the team and brings the members a new level of pride and gives them a certain professional look. We believe that this minor deviation from the dress policy is no different then the wearing of khakis instead of dress pants.

The executive has been quiet despite the messages we continue to send their way. It is exhausting to advocate for something as simple as team pride while hitting a wall of bureaucracy. We are still pushing forward because the players deserve to keep the gear they were given.

The pant shells have brought a sense of pride to everyone involved with the Major Bantam Aces program. I and all the parents of the Major Bantam Aces have thanked the Hubers' family for their kind and thoughtful generosity shown over the holiday season. I would hope, as an executive, you would reconsider your decision and allow the boys to play and represent the Upper Ottawa Valley Aces, not only with their excellent play and sportsmanship on the ice, but also as a group of young men unified by these pant shells and proud to call themselves ACES!

Many greater issues facing minor hockey that the executive should be focusing on. Fair play code, coaching abuse etc... Hockey pants should be at the bottom of the list. My sons hockey pants have been passed down many years and are falling apart but they meet the criteria? That's pretty funny.

I understand and respect the Aces executives point of view on this matter , standards and policies need to be adhered to for consistency to name but one of many reasons. My hope is that the Major Bantam ACES team of 2013/2014 will inspire the Aces executive to move towards an exception policy or Pilot Project with regard to the Pant Shells for the remainder of the 2013/2014 season. If the Pilot Project was deemed a success then there is an opportunity for the Aces Executive to adopt the new look for the upcoming 2014/2015 season.

hockey is costly enough for parents. When a family donates items that are respectful of the game, do not infringe on the rights of the players or affect the rules of the game, let's use some common sense please.

While we recognize and acknowledge the dress code in place, we do feel strongly that the pant shells create a unified look for the ACES. The boys look very professional and are proud to wear the new addition to their uniform. The generous intent in this gift-giving was not ill-conceived and was met with excitement by the players. It is unfortunate that this oversight resulted in a decision handed down by the Executive. We hope you will reconsider, and allow the ACES to wear the pant shells for the remainder if the year.

We understand why the Association dress policy is in place; it is an unfortunate situation that we have all learned from. In the interests of fairness and knowing that it happened without malice and the quality of shell is exceptional, granting an exception for the duration of the year would be greatly appreciated.
