The university of Portsmouth uses unite for its student accommodation,

Trafalgar halls houses close to 300 students, and has two lifts. It has 14 floors.

There are at least two known instances within the last 9 weeks where people have been trapped in lift 1 of Trafalgar.

The lift was broken for over two weeks with no information or updates on repairs, due to this lift being broke it caused lift 2 to malfunction and it is still very temperamental, less than two days later the lift was broken again, trapping students inside for an hour!

University halls are supposed to be a safe place for students in first year to live, we pay £118 a week for 39 weeks, in flats of six (which feature just one fridge freezer)

I, along with many other students agree that the amount we pay is substantially more than what's required to actually fix the lifts and have regular maintenance of the buildings.

After a serious lack of communication from Unite students (after being told by the university to contact them directly) we feel this may stand a greater chance of having a safe, functioning building to live in.
