The 2012/2013 Aston University fees for on-campus accommodation have been released and they are as follows:

Stafford Tower: £78 (an 8% increase from £72 this academic year)

Lakeside: £116 (a 5% increase from £110 this academic year)

New Build 7 bed: £121 (a 5% increase from £115 this academic year)

New Build 5 bed: £129 (a 3% increase from £125 this academic year)

(Figures are calculated per week on a 39 week contract – this does NOT include the internet)

The UK average inflation rate for January 2011 to January 2012 was 4.475%. With this in mind and given the higher tuition fees from the start of the 2012 academic year, as well as generally lower disposible income for students, do you feel that these increases are justified? If you do not, please sign this petition and put any positive and negative comments or feedback on the Facebook group. http://www.facebook.com/groups/228494707240926/?profile_pic_upload=1&success=1#!/groups/228494707240926/?notif_t=group_r2j

Ridiculous. We are already paying so much for tuition and now this? How are we meant to afford food and books?

8% increase for Stafford is a total joke. The rooms are tiny already.

not including internet is the worst part. we pay all this money and still have to pay extra just to do our assignments???

my student loan barely covers the rent as it is. they are completely out of touch with reality.

Aston needs to stop acting like a bank and start thinking about the actual students. Enough is enough.
