We, the undersigned members in good standing of the North Carolina Conference of Branches of the NAACP, respectfully request that our Conference of Branches be immediately removed from administratorship status.

The NC NAACP is being greatly hindered and hampered in doing the most important work that our mission says we are to do because of having been placed under level 2 administratorship. There are several things that render the administratorship problematic:

It prevents us from doing the most critical work that we should be doing in a time that demands that all of our efforts be focused on the issues of our day.

We are in one of the most critical election periods of our time.

We are leading the fight against unconstitutional voter ID measures.

We are spearheading the effort to address what the 4th district court has ruled as a “rogue legislative body” in our state that has rolled back many civil right victories with their unconstitutional legislation.

With all of these critical issues and injustices facing us, we have been saddled with the added burden of being placed under this administratorship—without fully understanding why. An engagement letter is on file with the reputable accounting firm Thomas and Gibbs to perform an audit for the years 2017 and 2018, which indicates our determination to be in compliance with the expectations of our national headquarters.

Membership is the lifeblood of our most noble association. Our state NAACP has always been at the forefront of the struggle to carry out our mission “to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights for all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.” To that end, we request that the North Carolina Conference of Branches of the NAACP be removed immediately from administratorship status that we might continue to do the work that each of us desires to do.

Yours In The Struggle,

The Members the North Carolina Conference of Branches of the NAACP
