The lift gate on 1802 is stuck again. Almost dropped a stretcher last night because it wouldn't lower right. Management just keeps saying they will look at it next week.

I drove 1944 yesterday and the steering is so loose it pulls hard to the right. Scared the heck out of me on the highway. We are going to end up in a wreck.

No air conditioning in the front compartment is dangerous as crew could start to feel dizzy or unwell. We need to be protected on those 80 -100 degree days so we can help our patients as effectively as possible.

these ambulance are in service at the bare minimum. Vehicle 1756 has no front AC. It’s not safe for the driver because the heat becomes a distraction if we roll up the windows. Then if we leave the windows down responding to an assignment out eardrums have to endure the sirens.

They put my partner and I in an ambulance with no AC. The windows kept on fogging up on my way to an assignment.

Where to begin. All winter we had ambulances that the generator didn't work, with loud water heaters that we could not hear over as what we were to use. In many of the ambulances that have working generators, the fan speed adjust doesn't work, and many are stuck on high. This makes us choose between heat/AC, or being able to hear to properly assess our patient. The generators set off personal CO alarms while in the back of the ambulance. Many ambulances don't have the fire extinguishers properly mounted, and they are stowed in an inaccessible compartment in case they are needed. Frequently the patient compartment locks don't work, and we are in the ambulance for several days until fixed. Recently I was in an ambulance where the curbside door couldn't be unlocked from the inside, causing a serious safety risk by eliminating an exit. On ambulance has had a large crack across the windshield for over a month. This not only violates NYS DOT law, but serves as an obstruction to vision. A few ambulances have front seats stuck in fixed positions. This is especially dangerous for the driver, who cannot sit properly while driving. Many arm tests also have metal edges exposed that can lead to being cut. The headlights used are very dim and do nothing to help with visibility. They appear to blacked out over a large portion, which makes night time driving difficult. A few ambulances are much taller than suggested national standards. Airbags in some of the ambulances to remedy this have been disabled. Cleaning products are not readily available. There are many places that we cannot properly clean, and it is easy for bodily fluids to get into. Without a hose or mops, we are forced to figure out alternatives that don't always work.
