I am requesting the signatures of all union members regarding the radio's (rovers) which the department issues to all officers as a primary source of communication amongst each other. Along with the radio's is the communication system which GSPD uses to communicate. Officer Safety is of the utmost importance and is the primary concern of all who sign this petition. This petition is an attempt to compel the union to address the issue with the department and remedy the current issues regarding our radios.

Updates

July 11, 2011

The department is still ignoring the feedback we provided about these faulty radios. Send an email to your union rep today demanding they prioritize this safety issue in the next meeting. We need to keep the pressure on until they confirm a timeline for equipment replacement.

July 11, 2011

The momentum behind this petition proves that reliable communication is a non-negotiable requirement for our safety. Now is the time to email your union reps and demand a meeting to address these equipment failures.

Ridiculous that we are still dealing with gear from the 90s. My radio dies halfway through the shift almost every night.

How am I supposed to call for backup in a basement with these things. Constant dead zones and static. Fix it before someone gets hurt.
