Started by Lakeview Parents 4 years, 11 months ago

We, the undersigned, call on the Lakeview Board of Education as well as Superintendent Taylor, to reverse the school’s current policy of mandatory student masking. As parents/guardians, it is our right and responsibility to make decisions in regard to the health and safety of our children.

Studies on both sides of this topic are highly debated, and to consider only one factor, oversimplifies a complex, multifaceted issue. Being that each student has unique physical, psychological, and social needs, we believe only a parent or guardian is qualified to make the most beneficial choice for their child.

To this end, we urge you to recognize and respect parental rights, and rescind the decision of masking students so that it remains what you previously referred to as a “family choice.”

My signature is to indicate agreement with the position statement above. In signing, I declare all information is correct.

After being at the open house where masks were not mandatory I don't see the logic to where they are mandatory 5 days later . I feel that if I am the legal guardian for my child in all other matters until the age of 18 then my choice to have my child wear or not wear a mask should be mine and my child's decision as well and not someone's else's decision.

My child needs to breathe. Don’t mandate masks especially the younger classes. Germs and bacteria are everywhere however, to concentrate at their mouth/face for an entire school day, is unacceptable to me. I wouldn’t want this environment for myself and I won’t have this for my child!

I'm deeply concerned to hear students say they are losing interest in education; that they want to be normal again. Are they being ignored? I pray not.

This mandate is severely impacting my sons mental health and well-being. We just spent the last hour trying to console him because he doesn’t want to go to school, saying he hates school because he will be called a bad kid because he doesn’t want to wear a mask. He is crying and saying I’m a good kid, I’m a good kid but everyone will think I’m bad because I don’t want to wear a mask. END THIS!!

These Kids have suffered enough. They think Wearing Masks and Sitting 6 ft apart in a cafeteria for hours a day is Normal School life!! Enough is Enough!

Our family is fully vaccinated and we would like the masking to be an option. Especially with the weather being so warm.

Parents (under God) are supreme authority of their children. NOT schools, et al. PERIOD.

This is indeed a family matter not the school board’s decision
