We, the undersigned, call on the University of Reading to support our local community by permitting parking in its Woodlands Avenue car park for a short period before and after school during term times.

IF YOU AGREE THEN PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION.

The data you provide will not be retained by Woodley Conservatives. The petition will be presented to the University of Reading.

Updates

April 13, 2022

I have formalized the request for the Woodlands Avenue car park access and delivered it to the University of Reading administration office. We are currently waiting for a official response to the specific proposal drafted for their facilities management team.

I live in Carrick Gardens and often have my driveway blocked by parents of Highwood School. My daughter has also had a few near misses with impatient drivers not looking where they are going.

The parking problem isn't just during school hours but also on a Saturday morning when football is held. Kingfisher Drive is overrun with people parking on the grass verges and on the corners of the service road, meaning people are unable to see on-coming traffic when they leave their homes.

This parking issue has got worse and severely damaging the small bits of green verge we have left. I am fully supporting this but would like to see something on grass verges (large rocks?) Or anything that would deter parking on grass verge. I am unable to park outside my house every school day from 14:20 - 15:30. This causes me a lot of issues as my mobility is limited.

If they don’t open the car park at least put double yellow lines at the turning into Antrim Road as the school parking is dangerous and causes chaos

As a cyclist it is a horrible time to cycle this area to get to work in the afternoon. Cars everywhere with engines running, unsafe for everyone. Giving parents this space would clear the roads and cycle layby of all the cars that obscure the veiw of anyone cycling or walking.

I live close to Highwood on the junction between Fairwater and Nightingale and the grass next to my house is an eyesore from cars parking on the verge and constantly churning up the mud. Cars parked here cause a danger to pedestrians and small children crossing the road.

It will be lovely for some where to park instead of rushing around finding a parking space to pick the children up and we have sex in car park for all parents
