To whom it may concern, As Tennessee hunting license holders we feel it is time for a change. The current season regulations for Unit B are unacceptable. The current regulations are as follows: Archery (includes crossbows) 2 deer, either sex Sep. 22 - Oct. 26, 2007 Oct. 29 - Nov. 2, 2007 Nov. 10-16, 2007 Muzzleloader and Archery Nov. 3-9, 2007 1 deer, (Nov. 3-7 either sex, Nov. 8-9 antlered only) Dec. 7-9, 2007 1 deer, antlered only Gun, Muzzleloader and Archery Nov. 17-25, 2007 2 deer, antlered only (All Season) Dec. 15, 2007 - Jan. 2, 2008 Young Sportsman Oct. 27-28, 2007 1 deer, either sex Jan. 12-13, 2008 1 deer, either sex We would like to see the season dates changed so there is no closed season from Nov. 25- Dec. 7. We feel as though we are being cheated out of the best two weeks of hunting. We would like to see this time opened for hunting with archery equipment at a minimum. We pay the same amount as every other hunter in Tennessee, but get less time and opportunity to hunt. We understand that Unit B does not hold the population of deer that Units A and L hold, but we also feel that having this time open to Archery hunters would not greatly affect the population of deer in our area. We would like to see the regulations changed to the following wording, keeping the same season break down, adding an archery hunt during the 2 week long closed segment of Unit B, and implement the following limits: Unit B: 3 Does/2 bucks Deer may be taken with any weapon, but no 2 deer of the same sex may be harvested using the same weapon. For example: If a hunter harvested a doe during the 1st Muzzleloader season he may not harvest another doe with a Muzzleloader. The same would go for both archery and gun. We feel that this would help in saving the yearling bucks that get harvested every year during rifle season by allowing the hunter to harvest a doe instead. This would still limit a hunter to only taking 5 deer total in Unit B for the entire license year. We ask that you please take the time to consider these changes or consider a reduced license fee for Unit B hunters. Thank you for your time and consideration.
