UC-AFT Local 1474 Proposed Amendments to Bylaws

I support the following three amendments to the existing by-laws of UC-AFT 1474 (as specified in the document tracking these changes circulated to the membership) and I believe these changes are in the interest of creating a more democratic, accessible and member-driven local. I intend to vote "yes" for these changes.
1. Updated language to the anti-discrimination clause to ensure meetings are accessible and to reflect a more informed policy strongly advocating for members most affected by gendered and racialized discrimination.
cf. ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP C.
2. Addition to the existing by-laws affirming that membership meetings are the primary decision-making space of the local and that members who cannot attend meetings have access to notes.
cf. ARTICLE IX: MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS C. MEETINGS
3. Revisions to formalize regular, monthly membership meetings in order to increase member engagement and to provide frequent opportunities for member input concerning the agenda and involvement in membership meetings.
cf. ARTICLE IX: MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS A. FREQUENCY
cf. ARTICLE IX: MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS B. AGENDA
cf. ARTICLE IX: MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS C. MEETINGS
cf. ARTICLE IV: EXECUTIVE BOARD B. POWERS AND DUTIES 3.
cf. ARTICLE IV: DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD A. PRESIDENT
