Where as the Executive Committee has acted in secret and without consideration for the members.
Where as they have decertified committed stewards without regard for the impact on represented members; because, those stewards challenged the Executive Committee.
Where as the behavior of the Executive Committee has resulted in the loss of two business agents.
Where as the leadership of this Executive Committee has resulted in an increase in spending while there has been a decrease in member activity, such as the disbanding of the Steward Councils.
Where as there has been inadequate accountability of spending either to the Board or to members.
Where as Board members were threatened with being forcibly removed from the Council 57 offices.
Where as President Carey recently challenged a Council 57 Board member to a fist fight.
We the undersigned declare a vote of no confidence in this Executive Committee and demand that they resign.

I would like to know how the money is being spent too. We are doing less than we were before. We are having fewer training's; lobby days was two days instead of three, with fewer participants; and now we are set for even fewer meetings. Yet, we seem to be spending about $90,000.00 a month more than we were last year. When I bring this up, all I am told is that we spend it on Union leave and travel. The Board is supposed to get the check register and credit card statements. But, we do not. I do know that the database that was supposed to cost $25,000.00 has cost $200,000.00 and counting. We pay the developers $300.00 and hour for Google Plus and browser add ons. Members are further restricted from participating in Union events because the forms online are not user friendly.
Benjamin, there is a Board of Labor Relations. They do not, however, cover public employee unions. We must use our democratic processes to demand accountability. The thing we need to be careful of with this group is that they change what they are doing just enough to look like they are responding to demands without truly becoming more transparent.
If there is a federal board that investigates union mismanagement, they should be contacted. A forensic accounting firm should be hired to audit expenditures including any discretionary spending. I am in favor of state and or federal prosecution if there are grounds for that. We pay a lot of money in yearly dues and it is shameful, unethical, if not criminal, to have our needs, issues, working conditions and job security unprofessionally and irresponsibly regarded and placed in jeopardy. If there are grounds, there should be individual criminal and civil charges brought., as well. No "Mr. Nice Guy" approach. Trust violation must not be ignored or we are at collective peril in the current atmosphere with regard to unions.
I am appalled at the actions of this Executive Committee, their failure to perform the duties to the positions for which they were elected, and most of all with the total disrespect for our members. The EC using the same tactics that Allen Lee et al used against Local 2620 is especially offensive.
I further ask that CDCR social workers seriously considering quitting membership this union. It does not all sw's to be heard adequately or appropriately and it is clearly not supporting us. Enough. We are not here to support the EC.
We need to have representation. Our counsel is only interested in themselves and have no loyalty to their members. Our dues are wasted and being used irresponsibly. We need new union representation!!
Why can't our Local ever get its act together. This type of immaturity has been going on for years. It's disgusting.

I am thoroughly disenchanted with the union at this point. Due to the rehabilitation therapist representative's incompetence, dance movement therapists were left out of the internship differential language of the 2015-2016 bargaining unit 19 contract with no attempt to create an addendum to fix this error.
