Many staff, especially the females are feeling quite unsafe with the current location of the Uber car park at Gold Coast Airport. Sometimes in the early morning hours and late at night we are walking alone past these Uber Drivers and into the back parking lot. In doing this we are walking past these men who are standing outside their cars staring at us which at times makes us feel uncomfortable and uneasy. The airport might think that it’s no different to where the Uber Drivers used to park however it is. We now walk directly past them rather than on the opposite side of the street and also their cars used to face the fence line towards the apron, not facing us. They might say it’s no different as the rental car company was there before, however we believe it is different as the rental car company didn’t operate so late at night and in the early hours of the morning. Some staff are also reporting several instances where they have almost being hit by the drivers at the pedestrian crossing as they are in a rush and not paying attention. Please move the Uber Drivers to the far northern end of the car park! They are in cars and this would add an extra 5 seconds to their trip to the terminal. If safety is a priority for the airport this would make us girls feel a lot safer or if it isn’t in the pipeline to be moved please do more to protect the staff by adding security guards during these hours.
I met with airport management this week to discuss these safety concerns and they are currently reviewing the vehicle traffic flow. Call the airport administration office today to demand they prioritize employee safety over convenience for ride-share drivers. Text three coworkers this update and ask them to sign the petition so our demand for a move to the northern end remains on their desk.

The momentum behind this push proves the airport can no longer ignore our concerns about moving the parking zone. Post the petition link on Facebook and text three friends who work shifts to keep this pressure building. Email your representative today to demand they prioritize staff safety over a few seconds of driver convenience.

There have been Uber drivers charged with offenses towards woman, so definitely don't feel safe knowing they are around us,
especially with us walking to the car park in the dark...move them away from us, make the staff a priority..

I was approached by one of the drivers the other day, he was wandering around our staff cars and made me super uncomfortable!! They need to be moved for our safety and piece of mind.

Uncomfortable & unnecessary having Uber Drivers so close to staff car park walk way. Especially when they’re always standing & smoking next to there cars and speeding over pedestrian crossing

My concern is who are these people driving those cars. What sort of sercurity check they have gone thru. The taxi at the airport have sercurity there for as long as the airport is open. There is no physical presence of sercurity at the Uber base.

So many old creepy guys that get together and smoke cigarettes late at night that I have seen multiple times on different days. Please move them or have security guards before & after hours.

I have almost been hit multiple times by Uber drivers driving too fast out of their allocated car park and have also experienced them standing around watching and staring at me while walking on my own late at night, this made me feel very uncomfortable.
