Need signatures before Decatur Planning Commission meeting on July 12, 2016.

The goal of this petition is to gather electronic signatures from local residents (those residing on Columbia Drive, Katie Kerr Dr, Kirk Rd, Conway Rd, Thomas Rd, Carter Rd and N. Carter Rd, Russell Dr., Walker Dr., and within the Forrest Hills and Midway Woods neighborhoods in general) and for said electronic signatures on this petition to be submitted as a formal request on behalf of resident signators to the City of Decatur Planning Commission to require the developer(s) of South Decatur Village to provide space for and/or install a northerly direction right hand turn lane on South Columbia Drive, where South Columbia Drive intersects Katie Kerr Drive on the east side of South Columbia Drive, as part of developer(s) master plan for South Decatur Village, and for said turn lane to be contiguous with the entire length of the western line of the South Decatur Village development, running thus along the eastern side of South Columbia Drive so as to provide for better traffic control and traffic flow of vehicles turning right from South Columbia Drive onto Katie Kerr Drive.
Developer(s) have stated they are "advocating for a left hand turn lane heading south on South Columbia." That would be great! But the northern turn lane from South Columbia onto Katie Kerr would be more helpful on balance due to significant morning traffic coming from the direction of Memorial Drive and the impact of that right turning traffic onto Katie Kerr.
This petition also requests no on street parking on South Columbia as is currently proposed by the developer(s).
It is NOT the goal of this petition to prevent or delay the South Decatur Village project in any way, nor to negatively impact the developer(s) of the project in any way. Nor is it not the intent of the originator(s) nor signators of this petition to negatively financially impact the developers of South Decatur Village. Developer(s) should be able to amend their master plan verbally at the July 12, 2016 Planning Commission meeting, and will be able to proceed without delay to final approval and construction as planned.

The volume of support has now reached a level that allows us to formally request a meeting with the Department of Transportation. I am finalizing a briefing document that outlines the traffic flow concerns for the Planning Commission.

Indeed. At least adding a turn lane will help. Otherwise, morning traffic on South Columbia is simply going to cut through the new development to avoid the slow turn at the light.
Traffic heading northbound from memorial drive on weekday mornings is already extremely heavy in this area, especially due to the Friends School and the Waldorf School at the intersection of S Columbia & Katie Kerr. A turn lane would absolutely alleviate some of this congestion in my mind. Please consider, thank you!
Turn lanes over street parking!!!! Absolutely a better option.

Turn lane is an excellent idea, along with a traffic light with an arrow.
Folks - sorry, I was not aware that this site asked for a donation. It has been confusing for some people and has led to fewer signatures than we want. I have posted a new petition at https://www.change.org/p/local-residents-turn-lane-for-south-decatur-village. Please, please go over and sign that.
Traffic is already difficult at that corner without this new construction.

We are already concerned with traffic issues that may arise on Columbia northbound on school mornings. The proposed street parking could be disastrous dor commuters trying to reach Decatur.
