RESPECT, TRUST, PEACE
Membership Petition
The Engineer Society, IFPTE Local 21, representing more than 140 proud employees of the Santa Clara Valley Water District, petition the CEO, Beau Goldie and the Board of Directors to reinstate language, removed from Governance Policies in August 2012 (EL-3), that recognizes the importance of positive labor-management relations and to work with us to restore respect, trust and a peaceful labor environment. Further, we ask the CEO and Board to affirm that we are one district by committing to:
Ø Openly communicate, cooperate, and recognize that we share responsibilities essential to the successful performance of our work and that through meaningful collaboration we can be successful.
Ø Demonstrate honest and fair leadership at the highest level of the organization, and resolve that “management and employees will demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, honesty, and conduct to inspire trust and foster collaboration with each other, customers, and the community.” (EL8.1)
Ø Exemplify the District Values Statement (GP 7) in all aspects of labor-management relations.

I have been spending my evenings reading through the messages you all left about the erosion of trust here. The silence from leadership is frustrating but it only confirms how necessary this push for mutual respect really is.

Seeing this level of support reminds me that we are not alone in wanting a workplace built on integrity. This momentum confirms that our coworkers are ready for the district to start treating us with the basic respect we deserve.

We are one team, not enemies. Put the language back or stop complaining about morale.
Treat these employees right! How are you supposed to get work done when nobody trusts each other anymore?
About time someone spoke up. The environment there has been toxic for way too long. Things need to change at the top.
Restore the trust. it really isnt that hard to treat people like humans.
