With the introduction of the new 7.3L 'Godzilla' V8, Ford now has two gas engines available for the F250 and F350 platform. While these engines are plenty powerful for many people, the fuel economy is nowhere near their 6.7L diesel counterpart, leaving much to be desired with the stock 34 gallon gas tank many of these trucks are outfitted with. While a 48 gallon gas tank is available, it only comes with a long bed configuration, which many customers do not want to buy.

Right now there is only one company producing 50-state legal replacement fuel tanks for modern Ford trucks with a gasoline engine, and that is Transfer Flow! Transfer Flow has released a massive 45 gallon replacement tank for the F150, but has not produced a gasoline replacement tank for the Super Duty platform.

Because there is significant costs associated with developing and certifying a replacement gas tank with the EPA and the CARB, developing a new replacement tank for the Super Duty platform represents significant financial investment, and risk, for Transfer Flow.
