For months, community members have been asking Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) to be transparent with purchase orders. Demand that the newly elected VCUSD Board and Superintendent Ramona Bishop instruct staff to answer questions about purchase orders whenever the public asks. We need them to be transparent and accountable to the public.
- How can VCUSD justify purchase orders such as a CURVED flatscreen monitor for over $1000 ordered from BH Audio in NYC delivered to the VCUSD warehouse? What's the purpose of this expense? Who has it and where is it located?
- Approximately $19,000 spent on blazers for hospitality academy at VHS. Was it for staff, students and administration? How many? Any competitive bidding done?
- Curious and vague purchase orders with little or no descriptions. Dec's purchase order increases totaling $146,000 had no vendor name or specifics.
- VCUSD refuses to look at buying re-furbished computers. If Fairfield school district buys re-furbished computers to save a dollar, so can VCUSD.

im still getting emails from people asking about those mysterious blazer expenses because nobody has an answer yet. silence is honestly just making everyone more suspicious so we are going to keep track of every vague charge until they explain where the money went.

Given the history of bankruptcy, one would think district administration's purchases would be closely monitored. That does not appear to be the case. Citizens have a right to see for themselves and a right to have their concerns addressed.
I'm a VHS graduate of 1958. I find it repugnant to learn there is not appropriate information sharing between the Administrator and the School Board. There should be no need to hire lawyers to obtain information that is lawfully available to the public. Jerry W. Collins
If the IRS has the ability to audit every penny I make and every penny I claim, the people of Vallejo should have every right to demand that our VCUSD Board hold accountable the VCUSD Administration for every penny received and spent. There's no difference other then my money is MINE, the VCUSD money is OUR CHILDRENS.
For a cash-strapped district there is absolutely no justification for this. I've spoken to many teachers and other district staff outside of VCUSD, not one single person would have purchased a CURVED flatscreen. Needless spending.
I am in the education business and am well acquainted with purchasing. If the purchases are a part of innovative technology then it would be easy for district to tell us about an exciting program or project.
Superintendent Bishop must be held accountable and taken to task for this lack of transparency.
Procure to pay cycle should follow best practices and be auditable, why are we so behind?

I might not have any kids in the Vallejo public schools, but my property taxes sure help pay the cost. I'm tired f seeing my money wasted.
