The city finally caved and approved the light at the N. College Road intersection. They ignored us for months but the constant pressure worked. Keep your eyes on the road and hold them accountable until that signal is actually installed and operational.

Final supporters
Several parents and student drivers have been involved in automobile accidents while trying to exit McDonald's and turn into N. College Road. Two students from Laney High School have decided to try to start a petition for a traffic light at this location. Let's not wait until it is too late and someone loses their life to an accident.

The city officials at the Department of Transportation are ignoring the danger on North College Road while more people get hurt. We are almost at 1,000 signatures so get this link to everyone you know right now. We have to force their hand before another accident happens because they clearly do not care about our safety.

I knew this was going to be a problem when it first went up. Peoples lives are at stake. I will have 2 children driving to Laney next year and I have been worried about this since it went up. Please put a light to protect everyone !!!
That "intersection" is horrid between the dollar store traffic, McDonald's traffic, adults trying to get to work on time, cape fear students trying to get to school on time, and not to mention the 800 student drivers at Laney. A traffic light would save lives
I believe this is a great idea, because it takes me forever to get out of the parking lot turning left. And turning left there is no middle lane to get into. If you get into the turning lane you will find yourself in a head on collision.
My daughter was in a accident while turning left onto longridge road from college rd which is at the same intersection on Thursday April 14, 2016. I have since seen 3 accidents, which resulted in 3 cars to be totaled in the past 6 days. Please put a stop light before someone loses a life.
It is a very dangerous intersection and i believe that it definitely deserves a traffic light , Many kids have yo walk to mcdonalds etc. to get picked up and for them to cross they have to be very careful due to the high speeds of the cars comming from literaly all angles
I travel this road frequently, simply because son attend Trask Middle School,which is adjacent to Laney. The traffic there during school hours is very chaotic and frustrating. It's a sheriff who sits in the morning, yet there's still incidents that may could have been avoided and sometimes more than often, the accidents involves students or their parents and a little bad at times. Please make this petition a success in hopes of a different traffic pattern and a more safer route for those who travel
The area is quite dangerous and a light would really help and prevent accidents. Traffic is increasing due to development and new businesses. I drive through this area a couple of times a day and my mother in law was involved in an accident. Now is the time to provide safety.

Thank you to those working on this. I appreciate your advocacy for all of our safety. Do we need to remind powers-that-be that even before the McDonalds was built, we had a teacher Mrs. Linda Aiello from Wrightsboro Elementary die in a car accident at this location?
