The intersection of Central Pike and Pleasant Grove Road has proven to be extremely dangerous. The number of traffic incidents on record would indicate the hill on Central Pike severely inhibits visibility both for motorists traveling west bound on Central Pike and those waiting to enter Central Pike from Pleasant Grove Road. The current traffic control system (flashing yellow light) is insufficient to warn motorists of the dangers this intersection poses.

  • Central Pike is an alternative route to Interstate 40, driving additional traffic volume.
  • Triple Crown neighborhood, and surrounding developments, continue to expand which creates additional traffic from Pleasant Grove turning east bound onto Central Pike toward Providence.
  • This is an intersection used by school transportation in both the morning and afternoon - the ability of buses to both turn and reach the speed of traffic creates a dangerous situation for our children.

The petitioners are requesting the City of Mount Juliet explore and implement additional measures to improve this intersection in order to improve safety for all motorists and community members before we experience a serious incident. As a first step, the petitioners would request the City perform an analysis of the site, traffic patterns, and traffic records and arrive at a publicly available conclusion as to the general safety and any possible steps which can be taken.

Thank you.
