Location: Terrace Place from PPSW to Sherman St and from Sherman St to Prospect Avenue.
The undersigned request that DOT consider alternate choices including stop signs and flashing slow traffic lights in lieu of speed bumps proposed for Terrace Place between PPSW and Sherman Street. ALL WAY stop signs (in place of the current pedestrian crossing sign) at the Sherman Street/Temple Court intersections on Terrace Place, added to the new traffic design at the corner of Windsor Pl / Terrace PL/ PPSW, will further slow motorists, buses and trucks, increase safety and maintain the quality of life residents desire at this location . Another factor already in place is the louvered traffic light at Terrace PL and Prospect Avenue.
A second alternative could be the installation of a four-way flashing yellow light at the same intersection.
You would:
Increase safety. Note: The Sherman /Terrace intersection is a school crossing.
Calm traffic ( on both Terrace, Sherman and Prospect intersects).
Stop the need for speed humps
Save money
Prevent noise issues that would come with humps
Prevent potential for street damage secondary to speed humps
No street damage potential
This would all be accomplished by using simple, logical, quiet, cost effective and PROVEN technology!

Stop sign at Terrace Place and Sherman Street would be more effective and probably less expensive.
I live on the first floor of 135 PPSW in Apt. A3 and my bedroom windows are within feet of the proposed speed bump on Terrace Place. I know, without any doubt at all, that my sleep will be greatly disrupted if a speedbump is placed on Terrace Place near Sherman Street. Since cones have been installed at the entrance to Terrace Place from PPSW, the cars and trucks have been traveling at much slower rates than in previous years. Although I share the safety concerns of the community, there isn't much time for vehicles to pick up speed between PPSW and Sherman St. and so there may not be any need to make any more changes on this block because the cones have been so effective. If after looking at this area again, it is decided that something needs to be done, consider a stop sign as a possible solution rather than a speed bump.
I strongly oppose the speed bumps. There is no speeding on this block. It will only lead to disruptive noise.Better outlaw truck traffic on the block. Alan Singer, PhD

We have two young children and live on the first floor right on the corner of Terrace and PPSW. The noise from trucks would be terribly disruptive and detrimental to the quality of our lives here in Windsor Terrace. Please consider solutions which keep undue loud and jarring noise from commercial traffic to a minimum while improving pedestrian safety. Thank you!
