Good Day Residents

The issue of the D’Urbanvale community safety with regards to the constant rat race through our suburb has been ongoing for years. We have been subject to constant abuse with reckless driving. Speeding is like a cancer through our area. We have been subject to a host of incidents caused by these factors. In just the last two weeks there has been cases of a vehicle smashing through a complex wall, another case of a vehicle driving into the wetland. (Mosselbankriver Road)

I have over the years written to the authorities many times to no avail. The area especially affected is the Visserskok entrance. Speeding along Koeberg is also a major issue. Once again the authorities have ignored the plea to take action. (e.g robot with cameras at Vissershok entrance etc, more speed bumps which can basically rip your undercarriage if you travel over at speed) I am imploring the community to voice your concerns if you have any with regard to this issue. Once I have all the data I will present the number of complaints to the city, province and press. The comment period will close on the last day of January 2016.

Time to make our neighborhood safe and to hold council accountable for non-action

Regards

George Sieraha

I have noticed a huge increase in trucks coming through our suburb. I have also complained to the relevant company about waste flying off the back of the trucks as it's not properly secured. I have also been the victim of a large bundle of compressed metal flying off a truck and going through my windscreen - fortunately I was not injured, but my car certainly was.

As a resident the speeding on mosselbank road is of particular concern. I would love to take my young children to the various parks, however even with the side walks I am not comfortable or safe to do so. Further traffic calming is required which may also deter the heavy traffic volumes that enter and exit D'urbanvale.

The motorist are driving with no respect others. My children used to cycle to school, but I had to stop it after my son was hit by a car that did not stop at a stop street. Luckily he walked away with minor injuries...

I am moving into the area and absolutely agree that the amount of cars, using D'Urbanvale as a thoroughfare is astounding! We specifically chose D'Urbanvale as our place to settle in the Cape but am rather disheartened by the traffic situation. There is a definite need for speed bumps in MosselbankRiver Road as the cars drive at speed! I'm not sure how people are expected to get in and out of their properties. There is also a concern re pets and children, due to the high volumes of traffic and the speed at which the cars drive! Looking forward to a positive outcome.

I suggest we close the 'bridge' with a gate/boom during peak hours so cars can't get through our neighborhood from Koeberg Rd to Vissershok Rd. I see this as the major problem.

I feel the road should be privatized

I agree with the petition but further we need to stop the flow of heavy vehicles going through on MosselbankRiver road. Further can we not petition the Authorities to proceed with the extension of the R300 which I believe will join the N7. This might stop rat runners from Somerset West, Stellenbosch and Paarl driving through our main road which was not designed to carry heavy traffic
