More Speed bumps in furbanvale the best way to go

I am moving into the area and absolutely agree that the amount of cars, using D'Urbanvale as a thoroughfare is astounding! We specifically chose D'Urbanvale as our place to settle in the Cape but am rather disheartened by the traffic situation.There is a definite need for speed bumps in MosselbankRiver Road as the cars drive at speed! I'm not sure how people are expected to get in and out of their properties. There is also a concern re pets and children, due to the high volumes of traffic and the speed at which the cars drive! Looking forward to a positive outcome.

I have noticed a huge increase in trucks coming through our suburb. I have also complained to the relevant company about waste flying off the back of the trucks as it's not properly secured. I have also been the victim of a large bundle of compressed metal flying off a truck and going through my windscreen - fortunately I was not injured, but my car certainly was.

I suggest we close the 'bridge' with a gate/boom during peak hours so cars can't get through our neighborhood from Koeberg Rd to Vissershok Rd. I see this as the major problem.

I feel the road should be privatized

I agree with the petition but further we need to stop the flow of heavy vehicles going through on MosselbankRiver road. Further can we not petition the Authorities to proceed with the extension of the R300 which I believe will join the N7. This might stop rat runners from Somerset West, Stellenbosch and Paarl driving through our main road which was not designed to carry heavy traffic

Recklessness by driving like hooligans late at night has to stop.

Fully support the petition - there have been numerous incidents over the past few months. It seems like Mosselbankriver road became a highway for non-residents that feels nothing for our suburb!

As a resident the speeding on mosselbank road is of particular concern. I would love to take my young children to the various parks, however even with the side walks I am not comfortable or safe to do so. Further traffic calming is required which may also deter the heavy traffic volumes that enter and exit D'urbanvale.

The motorist are driving with no respect others. My children used to cycle to school, but I had to stop it after my son was hit by a car that did not stop at a stop street. Luckily he walked away with minor injuries...

This issue is an on growing nightmare. It has now reached unacceptable proportions. It is impossible to walk with ones children, or pets during morning and evening rush hour. Whilst it seems an impossible task to have the D'Urbanvale complex gated, which would solve the whole issue, perhaps a different approach could be considered. What about have the Mossel Bank road closed in the middle - ie over the area where the river passes. This would not prevent access to anyone - but merely prevent a thoroughfare? Secondly the road junction at the Koeberg Road entrance is a disaster waiting to happen. Persons trying to exit are faced with huge volumes of traffic, and vehicle continuing straight along Koeberg Road in a northerly direction, at dangerous speeds. A 3 way Stop Street system would alleviate this matter. A traffic light would be even better. If the traffic light were configured to allow only limited vehicles to turn left in D'Urbavale, this would further serve as a deterrent. If these issues are NOT addressed before Clara Anna Fontein is developed, this will worsen exponentially.

I fully agree, either more speed bumps on the Koeberg Road side of Mosselbank River Road or traffic lights on Vissershok 3 way stop into Mosselbank River Road. It is a nightmare just to try and get in and out of our complex in the morning and late afternoons, it's becoming a joke with people speeding from Koeberg Road via Mosselbank River Road to Vissershok Road. On numerous occasions I have nearly collided with oncoming traffic racing through the circles. Something needs to be done before someone gets hurt.

Since plain common sense and good behavior on our roads have all but disappeared, we have to force the authorities that be in power by our leave to make our suburb safe, and properly enforce it. If not, they have become just as lawless!

I support any means necessary to reduce the average speed and encourage law-abiding behavior. I believe speed-bumps and traffic circles are much better long-term options than traffic-lights.
