Allowing businesses to use surveillence that can contain public areas such as the sidewalk or street but not allowing residence to protect themselves and their community is unacceptable
Scenario 1: there's an elderly couple that lives across the street from me, say someone goes over there and does a home invasion, then they leave. My cameras weren't aiming at the street so now they get away we cant identify the vehicle they're driving.
Scenario 2: I'm a single parent in the middle of a custody battle. My ex partner comes to my child's bedroom window wake them up and abducts them. I phone the police but now I can't identify the vehicle they are driving because my cameras aren't allowed to face the street, maybe its not my children, maybe someone on my street and they parked their vehicle down the street within view of my cameras
why are businesses allowed to protect their property but a residence cannot?
