The cause of this petition is to change the arrival time at MacArthur High School (Aldine isd) in Houston,Texas to 7:30 am. Students at MacArthur High School must be through the metal detectors before 6:55 am. Anything later than that will result in after school D- Hall until 5 pm. If a student gets more that five d-halls they will receive SAC, a parent conference, & will be put on a contract that "we don't want to get on" ( a quote from Mrs.Gary head of come late stay late). Kids are forced to wake up at FOUR IN THE MORNING just to make it on time to their bus stops at 5:30. Students stay up all night just to get their homework done. Teachers stay up all night grading papers. How can either be in their right mind with only 3 hours of sleep. Kids who ride a car to school are forced to deal with the horrendous traffic of cargo trucks, people trying to get to work other students and the kids that go to the school across from MacArthur, which starts at the same time as MacArthur. Last year we started school at 7:15 am and got out at 2:45 pm this year we start school at 6:55 am and end at 2:45 pm. This may seem like I'm blowing things out of proportion, but it's go big or go home. Side note: The picture is of me waking up at 5:30 am

The exhaustion of these early mornings is getting to all of us and I am feeling it just as much as you are. We are getting very close to five hundred signatures and hitting that number now is the only way we keep our momentum from fading. The exhaustion is setting in for all of us and these early mornings are becoming unbearable. We are nearing a hundred signatures but we need a final push to force someone to actually listen to our struggle.

Way too early! And now imagine if your one of those students that takes showers on the morning you will have to wake up at 3:45a.m.. And to the ones that each breakfast at home or prepare lunch for themselves.
I think school should start later because us students need more sleep because some of us have a job and and we have to go after school and get out late and then come home to do homework and we stay up late to finish it. We come to school late because we're too tired to get up in the morning to arrive at school on time
Students stay after school for band practice till late & still have to go home & do a lot of homework. Specially when they are in pre AP, A P ect. Students need a bit more of sleep than 5hrs a day.
For this cause; I agree. Many students must suffer consequences for actions not done by them, hence the CLSL policy. With respect towards the teachers they live fairly 30 mins or more away from the school which increases the amount of stress. Trying to rush through traffic seems endless plus teachers have kids too.
My name is Marc campos and I am a junior. I have to travel 10 miles everyday by foot just to get to school so this means I have to wake up at around 3 am and be out the house around 3:45am in order for me to make it to school on time. By changing the time it will allow me more sleeping time.
Its should start at a later time maybe that way people can see the kids crossing the street even with black on!!!!!!!

My sister and mom are forced to wake up at around 5 am. To be at her bus stop at 5:30. My mom walks with her to her bus stop because it is very early and dark and to be cautious. Its ridiculous!
