The cause of this petition is to change the arrival time at Nimitz Senior High School (Aldine isd) in Houston,Texas to 7:30 am. Students at Nimitz Senior High School must be through the metal detectors before 6:50 am. Anything later than that will result in being tardy to class. Kids are forced to wake up at FOUR IN THE MORNING just to make it on time to their bus stops at 5:30. Students stay up all night just to get their homework done. Teachers stay up all night grading papers. How can either be in their right mind with only 3 hours of sleep. People needs at least 8 hours of sleep in order to function properly and focus more. Kids who ride a car to school are forced to deal with the horrendous traffic of cargo trucks, people trying to get to work other students and the kids that go to the school across from Nimitz. Last year we started school at 7:15 am and got out at 2:45 pm this year we start school at 6:50am and end at 2:35 pm. This may seem like I'm blowing things out of proportion, but it's go big or go home.

I'm all for it. Most people who work don't ever have to wake up this early for work, so why should we for school? By the time I wake up and finally get into class, I've been awake for 2 hours. Their should be no reason that it takes 6-8 times longer to get to school when the commute is only 15-20 minutes on a bad day.
Seems really unfair for the students here.
We need more sleep!!!! I'm dying inside. I'm so tired with this change. If you wanted it to change please make it to where we get to school a little later than 7pm and or 7:10
