Many students are forced to wake up early to help benefit their education. However, schools that start at 8 A.M. could be too harsh for growing children who need an adequate amount of rest. As a result, once students arrive to school, they don't focus and put in their full potential into their school work. Therefore, in order to have a better education for children, MUSD schools should start by changing the time at which school starts from 8 to around 9:30 A.M. instead.
If you don't agree with this idea, that's completely okay! Just don't sign it...every opinion counts, including ones that don't agree.
This is just a suggestion...please don't punish us :)

I was looking at the clock this morning and just thinking about how tired everyone looks in the hallway because honestly these early starts are not doing us any favors. I have been drafting an email to the school board about the sleep study stuff I read the other day and hope they actually read it instead of just tossing it out.

I really thought this might just float around in the void but seeing so many people agree about the morning exhaustion is honestly surreal. It feels like we are finally acknowledging that being constantly tired is not a requirement for learning and I am just kind of sitting here in shock that this is actually gaining real traction.

If we were to end school at 5 P.M, then people at homework center or friday school will be their until around 8 - 8:30 at night and some people have to wait a while to get picked up from school. I know this is a good idea and all that, but think of the after school activities and such.
I can't wake up early every day :(, 10:30 would allow us to get enough sleep :).

If this were to happen, school would end around 5. A lot of the students attending here have extra curricular activities that start at 5. A majority of these activities and at 7 meaning students wouldn't get home until 7:15-7:30. After that, homework usually takes about an hour+ depending on the person doing it. Meaning bedtime would be at about 11-12. A better time would be 9, a whole half hour extra to get ready. It's a lot easier to achieve than an hour and a half after the usual time.
School. Should start later so we can have more time with our family and friends over the summer

That would certainly help if school time would extend from the end of school just a bit and start late.
