I am asking for all Isle of Wight residents and our much needed tourists to sign this petition. The Isle of Wight council are trying to bring an act into play, where dogs will be banned from 49 public spaces including our much loved beaches and cemeteries!
We pride ourselves on being a dog friendly island! I'm sure we all have family who have dogs that visit loved ones graves. Or enjoy a nice stroll along the beach in winter and a hot drinks to warm you up at the local beach huts that get steady business throughout the year thanks to dog walkers!

Of course banning dogs from all beaches is a very bad idea. If a compromise is needed, maybe revert to the position as it was a few years ago when a limited subset of beaches are dog free in the summer season only, making them baby and toddler friendly?
Dogs should be allowed in public open spaces if they are under handler's control and allowed on beaches off peak or at certain named beaches all year round and they should be allowed in cemetaries to accompany owners as they are part of a family unit.
I run a business that welcomes dogs with Islanders and visitors and proud to live on this beautiful Island that promotes itself as dog friendly ... this is a ridiculous proposal and certainly one that would be so damaging to the image of the Island
Once again the majority being punished for the minority who break the rules. IOW tourist board states 'The Isle of Wight is one of the most dog friendly places to visit'. Obviously this will not be the case if the council has its way!! So foolish!
It would be better to ban some humans from beaches! Have you seen the rubbish they leave behind? It is not fair to punish all dogs and responsible owners! We already have restrictions! this will effect tourism and the islands dog friendly reputation!
Please look after your IOW dog owners, they are your public too
Dogs are part of the family and if trained are a pleasure to be with. Please allow them to live a life where they can spend time with there family in public spaces.

This is a crazy idea. We visit the Isle several times a year, with our two spaniels. We are good dog owners and our dogs are well behaved and considerate also. If they are not welcome we just won’t come anymore. We holiday with our dogs, period.
