In order to name the athletic training room in the new Mira Costa athletics complex after Tim Cooper, we must present a proposal to the Manhattan Beach USD School Board that demonstrates Tim's distinction as a person worthy of having a facility named after him, specifically we must speak to the measurable impact he had on the students, staff, district, and community of Manhattan Beach during his tenure.
Our intention is to name the athletics training room as the "Tim Cooper Athletic Training Room" with gold letters above the door, as well as a commemorative bronze plaque that includes his picture and a summary of the massive impact he had on the Costa athletics community.
Sign this petition to help demonstrate to the MBUSD School Board how Tim Cooper is the very fabric and core of the culture of Mira Costa athletics, and that it is right and just to name the athletic training room in his honor.

I spent many afternoon hours in the ice pool getting ready for baseball practice from 1986-1990 I loved talking sports with Tim I even gave him my poster I had in my room at of Eric Davis of the Cincinnati Reds. He hung it up in the training room.
It saddens me to know the Tim Cooper Training Room did not carry over when the new gym/athletic facility was built. Tim was an exceptional inspiration and was dedicated to all the personnel on campus, not only students in the athletic program. He worked tirelessly from the heart. He was one of a kind.
Tim Cooper was my athletic trainer from 1997-2001 - he caught and performed concussion protocol before it was even a thing! I had one and he called me at 7pm at night after a playoff soccer game to make sure I went to ER to get a cat scan - he was a true mentor and a friend - he is dearly missed and he so lovingly deserves this honor!
Tim was such a great human with the kindest heart and the biggest smile! He nursed me back to health each time I went down during our playoff run to eventually become the 1989 girls volleyball National Champions! I’ll never forget the tears in his eyes after we won the last point! He was a huge part of our team and he will forever be a Mustang!
The physical and emotional development and support Tim Cooper provided my sons cannot be measured. An incredible man who is deeply missed. I strongly support naming the training room after him. His positive impact on hundreds of student athletes deserves that honor. Thank you for your effort in making this happen.

Tim was an amazing asset at Mira Costa. He cared about the kids and went above and beyond. I am grateful that my daughter had him as a trainer in her early years at Costa. He made a lasting impact and she still wears a bracelet in his honor when she competes in Volleyball.
