Recently The Worx Combat Center has been told it is no longer aloud to host game days, this will be very dissapointing news for alot of people. Sadly alot of people would rather see it go back to derelict land than be used to benifit the comunity. Before the site was taken over it use to be a place for fly tippers and the youth to go and drink, which could pose a threat to dog walkers and the local care home. Its also benifiting the community in helping to fight obesity as it is a physically demanding sport, airsoft has strict saftey rules to protect players and members of the public from injury. The location is perfect for this type of sport due to having grassed embankments,a tarmac road and buildings which keeps the sport physical and really sets a scene. Because the sport is alot better with this setting it means trees inside the fenced area will not be removed and more will be planted, site maintenance will also be a big factor insuring the site will not be a eye sore to anyone. Games played at this site are 2 days per calendar month which shouldnt pose any issues to anyone. If you want to see the site back up hosting games and further development of the land please sing the petition. Thanks.

Updates

I have been reading through all your comments and it is clear how much this space keeps our community safe and active. I am currently gathering evidence of the site improvements to present to the local planning office because we cannot let this land fall back into disrepair.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels unreal for a place that was just a forgotten dumping ground for so long. Knowing that so many of you value this site as a safe outlet for our community keeps me going through this fight.

This is a safe sport that covers all age groups, it involves small pellets not bullets that have a very limited range. There is a severe lack of physical activities in this area that allows people of varying abilities to participate in one sport like this be they fit or not so fit , male or female.

It’s an activity that provides both physical and mental agility as well as being great for team building and leadership. Noise levels during the activity are quieter than an average game of bowls and doesn’t tear up the countryside unlike some so called two wheeled sports.

Would they prefer it just to go back to being a bit of waste land where kids could easily get hurt and cause mayhem for the residents or have it where kids and adults can have a good laugh and great bonding experience .

This site was a derelict mess and the people using it as a drinking den would surely gave caused a bigger risk to whatever public were around.I certainly didnt see many people rambling on my visits there. When there is a vision and a passion to make use of this site it should be aplauded.

Its unbelievable that something new in the area that's different to the usual has been shut down... a chance to bring new folk into the area and up the revenue for a lot of local places aswell

It would be a terrible shame if this place had to close. It has a lot to offer to the community, with a lot of young players getting involved in this active sport. Game days cost less than similar days at paintball etc and allows for team building and making new friends in a safe, friendly environment.
