Non-profit cultural organisation FORM is transforming one of Perth's oldest railway precincts, at Claremont Station, into a holistic community arts hub integrating the Goods Shed, the former Station Master's House, the adjoining yard and the historic, disused Platform 3.

Throughout the 1920s and 1930s when everyone traveled by train, the life of Claremont happened at the platform and the wider station precinct. It was the site of meetings and partings by so many travelers passing between station platforms. Where goods were loaded and unloaded in the rail yard, bound for the Royal Show. Where letters to loved ones from departing soldiers were released from troop train windows, weighted with a coin, and picked up and posted by children who tore down to the station at the sound of a whistle.

We want to bring that life back to the Station precinct, creating a space where heritage, creativity and activity connect.

Currently, Platform 3 is disused and enclosed in cyclone fencing. We want to transform this significant heritage site with an interpretive, etched glass panel embedded with history, accessible from both east and west and running the length of the platform.

To make the transformed Station Master's Platform a reality, we need to demonstrate community support for this project to Lotterywest by gathering 1000 signatures in support of the initiative. You can help us by signing and sharing this petition. If you would like to dontate- please contact [email protected]. Donations to The Station Master's Platform are not available through Ipetition.

Please sign this petition to register your support for the Station Master's Platform.

By signing and sharing this petition you are helping us create in our neighbourhood a precinct dedicated to nurturing creativity in Western Australia.

I have submitted a formal project brief to the heritage planning office to initiate a review of the Platform 3 site access requirements. We are awaiting a response regarding the necessary permits for installing the etched glass panels. Future updates will detail the outcome of our upcoming consultation with the station precinct architects.

We have reached one hundred signatures. I am compiling this list to present as part of our formal submission to the Public Transport Authority for the adaptive reuse of Platform 3.

I love the Claremont train station and regularly pass through on my commute to work. I gives me a great thrill to know my great grandmother who lived in John St. Would have known the same buildings as my daughter does today. Save our unique heritage.

I support FORM wholeheartedly in it's application for Platform 3. I have seen firsthand how well FORM works - through benefitting from several initiatives which have boosted the cultural and community amenity in Port Hedland through the Courthouse Gallery, Spinifex Artists Centre and Provedore Cafe in Port Hedland.

As a former Claremont resident I strongly associate with the Railway Station presinct as one of the human hubs of Claremont township. These spaces require urgent revitalisation.

I feel that using the old rail precinct of Claremont to become a hub for entertainment and the arts is a superb idea. Anything that brings people together in a positive manner and that forms opportunities to display and perform our local artistic talents is a very welcome concept.

As my grandfather was the station master and my mother spent part of her life living in the Station Master Home, I see this as an incredibly important part of retaining our connection to what has been before - to what will come in the future

Replacing the cyclone fence with an attractive, informative etched glass panel will add to the Revitalisation of the Station precinct. All of this will help energise the precinct and make the area more of a destination to visit.

I am a hobo that lives at the station so it would help.
