Final supporters
Many of you are aware of the changes in our college, the changes that were not made by us, and the changes that we had no say in, the destructive alterations that will drastically change our education, our experience and wellbeing in Stem. The changes include:
- Uniform – When we first joined stem we were forced to sign a contract that stated that we should dress formal, with strong enthuse of no hats and hoodies. Now we are going to be forced to wear suits to college, which was not part of the original contract. Most students attending the college will never have to wear a suit in their future careers. So the enforcement will just be a waste of time for students and staff, as well as a waste of money. Students will be sent home for wearing clothes that they are comfortable in. They will be forced to buy something that they will never need to wear at any other stage in our lives.
- Timetable – Adaptation is key in human survival; however in this crucial time in our lives we should be working on preparing for university or the next stages after college. We should not be worrying about major changes in our time tables such as the school day being longer or having to start the day at 8:30 or leave at 5:30.
- The students applied for S.T.E.M because of the empathies on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Most students believed that they would be advantaged by going to a school specializes in S.T.E.M subjects, however now that empathies is being altered, the college will now specialize in business and Math. This will strongly disadvantage the students that were misled to come to stem on a broken promise.
- Our satisfaction – The approach to the change just shows that they didn’t care about what we students think, even some members of staff were not aware of the changes being made to the college that they work in. The students were not asked about the changes nor were we informed until a decision was made.
- Our views – When students asked to have a meeting to discuss the changes, we were denied that opportunity.

I spent the last two hours reading all your notes about the uniform mandate and it is honestly infuriating how many people have been pulled aside already just for trying to dress normally. My inbox is full of messages from students who feel like their time is being stolen by these schedule tweaks and I am currently trying to find a way to get someone in admin to actually listen to our side of things instead of just ignoring us completely.

I really thought this might just fizzle out but seeing everyone jump on board like this is honestly surreal. People keep messaging me about the uniform stuff and it helps to know we are all feeling just as confused and frustrated about these sudden shifts.

Imposing business attire onto stem students it's nothing uther than self destructive and self defeating.
Stem just needs stricter grades allowed to take each A level, no uniform needed that's bang out of order!
I want to be able to express myself in an environment that promotes our person, I want to be able to operate freely in an environment not under forced rules. As I be live image does not equate to high grades.
Also, fuck John Oshea for selling the biggest of dreams to me cos now i attend a pathetic excuse for a college.
I strongly agree with all the statements being made about the change within the college and believe this is absolutely unfair. I expect better from our new investors and leaders of the college; they are supposed to be making STEM a better place to learn but the way they have gone about things and the way things have been handled in terms of the changes in STEM - I am really not please nor impressed with the acts that have been taken place and I expect these new leaders of the college to act upon the complaints and opinions of the students of STEM instead of ignoring us and acting like there isn't an issue here when there clearly is .
