In 2019, Nassau County received $100 million from opioid– related settlements intended for prevention and recovery programs. Blakeman’s history of withholding money from fire districts and EMS services, failing to fund The Safe Center—which served 5,000 domestic violence survivors annually, refusing to adopt the Families Against Fentanyl Act, and leaving more than $90 million in opioid settlement funds unallocated shows.
Blakeman’s failure to responsibly fund lifesaving services. These delays are putting residents at risk and costing lives.

As a therapist who has sent multiple clients in need to the Safe Center over many years, I hold you responsible for its closure, and many acts that don't serve the people who live here. You will have your day, and be ousted the next election cycle. Release the funds! Do the right thing!
How can he say you’re doing everything to stop the drug problem when you are holding back these funds?
Opioids are a large problem on long island. It is irresponsible to withhold funds intended for prevention and recovery programs. It is your responsibility to see that funds are used for the purpose intended.
The funds should be released for the purpose for which they have been intended, not to be held in reserve as an accounting measure to argue that it is in the County's Coffers.
Residents feel uninformed about the fund’s allocation, necessitating clear transparency and accountability. Identifying anll agencies involved is essential. The county executive should proactively address the settlement money, formally announcing each allocation. This is not only a duty to his constituents but also a tribute to those who have perished in the opioid crisis.
You need to DO BETTER FOR NC
Those funds belong to the county to help our citizens. Withholding these funds for years has no excuse. Real Americans want all the best for others.
