REFUSE TO BE THE EXECUTOR OF THESE GERRYMANDERED MAPS!
A Democracy needs checks and balances. The maps proposed by the Republicans are gerrymandered for political gain and are not in the best interests of the people. Please refuse to execute the maps proposed by the Republicans that:
- create districts that are not contiguous, requiring a legislator to swim more than 10 miles from a district ending in Oceanside to reach the next closest election district in southern Massapequa;
- tear apart communities of like interest;
- dilute the voice of the minority communities;
- were drawn behind closed doors and without public input or hearings;
- are gerrymandered so that five Democratic incumbents are placed into two districts, intentionally eliminating three legislators right off the bat;
- were drawn by consultants from Albany whom were paid with our tax dollars and failed to draw districts that were blind to incumbencies, as they were purportedy hired to do;
- should have been the result of a collaborative bi-partisan effort, yet were drawn without cooperating, working with. participating, onvening or conversing with the Democratic Redistricting Commissioners or the public;
- exemplify a clear power grab to create a supermajority that does not allow for checks and balances; and
- take legislators out of districts they currently represent, thus ignoring the will of the people who voted for them to represent them.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but seeing the momentum continue confirms that people are finally noticing these maps. It is hard to keep pushing when the silence from the legislature hits so heavy. I am tired but I am not stopping.

Gerrymandering is a plague on our democracy. Mangano needs to do the right thing for once and veto these maps.
This is total garbage. Politicians picking their voters is corrupt and everyone in Nassau knows it. Stop the games.
Ridiculous. Why do we even bother voting if they just redraw lines to keep their seats? Stay out of our local communities.
Let us vote for who we want instead of making it impossible to win. Keep our towns together.
The maps make zero sense. Swimming 10 miles to get to another district? Are they serious?? Fix this mess now.
