Tell Albany County Democratic Chair Jack Flynn: Maureen O'Brien Must Resign!
On July 23, 2017, Albany County Democratic Party Secretary Maureen O'Brien made some disturbing comments about a Councilman. She specifically mentioned Judd Krasher's sexuality in her comments. She further went on to say that his family is ashamed of him and spread rumors that his family sent him to conversion therapy to "fix him." This has since been proven by his mother to be a false statement. Ms. O'Brien, as a licensed therapist, should have known the danger in bringing up conversion therapy as an insult when it is a form of "treatment" that has caused thousands of suicides in the LGBTQ community.
Chairman Jack Flynn was contacted immediately. He has remained silent and continues to try and hide the issue at hand. Speak up and let him know that Maureen O'Brien is unfit to serve in her current position. Tell him that we will not tolerate this form of hatred and bigotry in our city and in our Democratic Party. Tell him that it is time for Maureen O'Brien to hand in her resignation.

The silence from Chairman Flynn remains disappointing given the gravity of these remarks. I am currently reaching out to party leadership to ensure this matter is addressed with the seriousness it requires.

The momentum behind this request for accountability is significant and continues to grow. This collective response demonstrates that our community will not ignore language that targets individuals based on their personal identity.

Resignation is required this behavior violates the Code of Ethics that governs the profession of Social Work a complaint should be filed with SED . It also is unacceptable behavior for a principle of the Democratic Party & should be reported to the DNC & any lack of action by the local party should also be reported to the DNC & the state party . Resign you have brought shame to the party
I am Judd's mother and was highly offended by this. We are not or never have been ashamed of Judd and we never, ever suggested, recommended or sent him for conversion therapy. He is fine the way he is. This lady is a disgrace.

As a gay male who advocated for GLSEN, PFLAG, and LGBT rights, dignity, and equality back in the 90's when our community was still facing major roadblocks, I was completely offended at the unethical behavior of not only a chief officer of the Albany Democratic Party, but a licensed therapist. Cyberbullying and the numerous accounts of previous exchanges conducted by Maureen O'Brien on other individuals as forced me to sign this petition asking her to resign.
