Former Congresswoman and mass shooting victim Gabby Giffords came to Newtown, CT to comfort the grieving families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. Connecticut State Representative DebraLee Hovey, who represents Monroe and part of Newtown, posted on her facebook page "Gabby Gifford (sic) stay out of my towns!!!"
The comments of DebraLee Hovey demand her prompt resignation. Her insensitive remarks are not the remarks of an upstanding public servant. Please sign this petition to demand State Representative DebraLee Hovey's immediate resignation.

The message behind this campaign is clearly reaching people who refuse to tolerate such disrespect from a public official. Now take this momentum to Facebook and tag your local representatives to demand that they hold her accountable immediately.

This woman is an absolute disgrace to our state. How could anyone say that to a victim of gun violence who was just trying to help? Get her out of office now.

Get her gone. Monroe and Newtown deserve someone with actual compassion.
Totally SHAMEFUL. My heart breaks for the families and then she goes and says this?? Unfit to lead.
Completely unacceptable behavior from someone who is supposed to represent us. She needs to step down immediately.

She has no business being in government. Representing us means having some basic human decency which she clearly lacks.
