We disapprove of the proposed Tapestry Project because it 1) violates the Verdae Master Development Plan, 2) will significantly increase the vehicular traffic on Rocky Slope Road, 3) will result in decreased land and property values for Verdae and Hollingsworth Park (HP) homeowners and reduced taxes for the city, and 4) is inconsistent with the planned architecture for the HP neighborhood. The vision for HP is advertised by Verdae as a “pedestrian-friendly streetscape, village-like atmosphere of close-knit single-family homes of yesteryear-classic architecture”. The removal of a large number of planned single-family homes by the Tapestry multi-family project and resultant traffic impact will destroy this vision and create increased automotive safety hazards for HP residents and visitors to Legacy Park. The Verdae Master Development Plan currently includes a multi-family project, which will be located between Laurens Road and the old train line that borders Hollingsworth Park and is recommended as a location for the Tapestry Project.

I spent the entire morning scrolling through the comments here because honestly the stories about the traffic hazards on Rocky Slope Road are just so alarming and they perfectly confirm why we started this whole thing in the first place. My desk is currently covered in maps of the old train line area because we really need to keep pushing that alternative location before the developers finalize their plans and ignore the actual master development plan entirely.

Rocky slope is way too busy now. adding all these people is going to be a disaster for kids trying to walk to the park. move it to the real planned site.

Enough with the apartments already. We bought in this area because of the single family vibe and the quiet streets. Putting this project here is just looking for a traffic nightmare.
