SUSPENSION BRIDGE CLOSED UNTIL AT LEAST NOVEMBER 2009
Wilford Suspension Bridge was suddenly closed on 22nd July 2008. We learnt in January 2009 that work on repairing the bridge will now not start until May and will not be completed until late autumn.
It is therefore very important to make the bridge owners, Severn Trent Water Plc., aware of the strength of feeling caused by the bridge’s closure and the further disruption to come, for example, disruption to major sporting events.
Please therefore add your name to this petition to Severn Trent Plc. and encourage others to give their support.

I really never thought we would get this kind of response when I first typed this up while staring at that stupid bridge fence. It is honestly wild how many people are frustrated by this disruption because I honestly thought it was just me getting annoyed on my morning walk.

I spent the morning reading through all the comments left here and honestly it is just exhausting to see how much this bridge closure is actually ruining people's daily commutes and weekend plans. I keep trying to get a straight answer out of Severn Trent but they just keep sending me these automated replies that say absolutely nothing which is just typical if you ask me.

Severn Trent need to get their act together. We pay enough in bills to expect a basic bridge to stay open.

Ridiculous to keep it shut this long. Takes me forever to get to the tram stop now. Just get it fixed.

This is a joke. How hard can it be to finish the repairs on time? Totally unacceptable

My kids use this every single day to get to school. Walking the long way around is not safe or easy. Please reopen it sooner
