South Shropshire Council has, in its ifinate wisdom decided to close the B4368 at Broadstone on the 2nd of January, 2007. According to the contractors the closure will be in place for upto one month ! The official diversion takes you out past Ludlow and over the Clee Hill. Not only an outrageous diversion but at this time of the year, very very dangerous. There has been no public consultation about this closure. The contractors say that the reason for the closure is so that a 200 metre section of road can be re surfaced. When asked why not just close one side of the road and use traffic lights the council said it was for "safety reasons" It should be noted that there have been traffic lights ON THE EXACT SAME ROAD between Diddlebury and Munslow for Water Works. This closure is going to cause immense problems for local people. It has been decided by someone who has had no regard for the safety of those people affected by the closure. We ask you to sign this petition as soon as you can. We also ask you to keep records of extra fuel and time you expend if the road is closed so that we may sue the council in a class action and perhaps start a non payment of council tax. One person can not change what the \"powers that be\" at the council do, but together we can put this right. WE THE UNDERSIGNED INSIST THAT INSTEAD OF CLOSING THE B4368 THE COUNCIL PUT IN PLACE A TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM AS WAS RECENTLY DONE ON THE SAME ROAD BETWEEN DIDDLEBURY AND MUNSLOW. WE WILL OFFEST ANY LOSES WE SUFFER AS A RESULT OF THE CLOSURE AGAINST OUR COUNCIL TAX BILLS.
