Petition to Keep Alexandra Marques as a Teacher in the Danvers School System
Hello to all Danvers Citizens who are vested in the Education of the Town!
This petition was created to support a 2nd grade Great Oak Elementary teacher, Alexandra Marques, in getting her contract renewed with Danvers Public Schools. Her contract was terminated this month without explanation, and the school is continuing to hire new teachers at present time.
Mrs. Marques taught at Great Oak for the 2019-2020 school year. In that short time, she made a huge impact on not only each one of her students, but the parents as well. She quickly and easily gained the respect and friendship among her colleagues, peers, and the parents alike with her infectious positivity and vibrant energy. Additionally, Mrs. Marques was nominated for the 2020 DESE’s MA Teacher of the Year award. Prior to joining the Great Oak community, she also taught 4th grade at Highlands Elementary, where she was a beloved member of their school for 2 years.
We are requesting your support to petition the Danvers Administration to renew her contract, and keep her as a teacher in our school district. Mrs. Marques’s dedication, experience, and most importantly; love of teaching, make her an invaluable member of our educational structure. Our children need teachers like Mrs. Marques, and we would be doing them a huge disservice to deprive them of this.

I can not only speak to her ability as a teacher, but also a colleague. As an aide in classoom, I felt the love and dedication she put into teaching everyday. She made her students and fellow staff feel seen and heard, and made very effort to make sure everyone felt warm and fuzzy.
Alex is an amazing educator with her core values and beliefs centered around what’s best for children. I had the pleasure of teaching with her in Richardson, Texas before she moved to MA. You are doing a great disservice to incoming students by removing this dedicated and passionate teacher.
No one is more dedicated to the art of teaching than Alex Marques! She has 10+ years of experience and is a master level teacher. You would be crazy to not have this teacher on your team if educators.
Instead of hiring outside for a new Riverside 4th grade teacher you should bring this teacher on! She is well liked around the community and knows Danvers school system Plus 4th grade curriculum.
My son had Mrs. Marques for 2nd great at Great Oak and I've never met a passionate, dedicated teacher who truly inspired a love of learning for the kids she taught! Danvers was very lucky to have her!
Hi, I was in her class and she was a very nice teacher but I feel like her teaching was ineffective.
I remember having mrs Marques as a teacher she was the best 4th grade teacher I could ever imagine ❤️ I miss her

Alex is an amazing educator and would be an asset to any school. I’m so sad to hear her contract isn’t being renewed. In a time where many teachers are leaving their profession, it is important to retain and develop the good ones!
