Tell the City of Vancouver that the DTES Street Market at Pigeon Park is an essential neighbourhood event, and needs more support. We create jobs for marginalized residents of the DTES, put over $500,000 yearly into the hands of hundreds low income vendors, and remove over 50 tonnes of waste from landfills. Operating at Pigeon Park for almost 4 years, for almost 200 consecutive Sundays, the DTES Street Market is the longest running community event in DTES history.
I see the DTES Street Market as a beneficial part of this community, puts honor in the community people also gives dignity to all who create funds following into the hands of the most at risk living in poverty.

I think it's a great idea, it's a community thing, it generates a bit of extra money for those who don't have much and it gets people together. Hopefully it will go on for a long time, I have just heard of this and plan on going there to try to sell some of my small stone carvings today :)

I've lived at 370 Carrall St, adjacent to the market, since 2011 and watched the market's progress with enthusiasm. I think it's an asset to the neighbourhood. Go DTES Street Market!

This event lends the DTES so much richness and provides avenues for industry for those who need it.
