We, the undersigned, strongly express our support of the ducks at Buckfastleigh. They are an important part of the charm of the town and are greatly appreciated by local residents and visitors alike. Local residents love bringing their families to meet and feed the ducks and many families with children with special needs visit the ducks regularly. Older residents at near-by care homes also like to stroll to the park to watch the youngsters interact with the ducks or even feed them themselves! Like the swans at Dawlish, the ducks are a valuable tourist attraction, bringing visitors to the town and encouraging them to linger and spend money in the local shops, cafes and in local accommodation. Many special visitors come back every month and year after year to see them. The ducks help keep local tourism alive. The ducks are a fantastic feature of the area and they help to create a calm and peaceful space where a diverse group of younger and older people can meet and share the facilities and appreciate the fantastic wildlife on their doorstep
