SUPPORT OF SUNDAY BEVERAGE SALES FOR SANTA ROSA COUNTY
BACKGROUND:
The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners http://www.santarosa.fl.gov/governing-src/BOCC.cfm?Menu=110 is taking up a proposal on February 23, 2017 to allow Sunday alcohol sales countywide. The commission meeting will be held at the Santa Rosa County Administrative Center Board Room, 6495 Caroline Street, Milton.
Currently, the sale of alcoholic beverages is inconsistently applied throughout Santa Rosa County, Florida. The allowance for Sunday alcohol sales varies depending on location (ex. City of Milton, South of Yellow River, unincorporated areas). The standardization of days and times would allow for greater economic development opportunities as corporate restaurants and local businesses would expand to serve both residents and tourists in Santa Rosa County. This would lead to a stronger tax base and more employment opportunities for our community.

The undersigned individuals support the concept of allowing Sunday alcohol sales in Santa Rosa County bars and restaurants as an effort to meet the needs of local residents and tourists as they enjoy our local community.

I feel as though this 2017 people are raising families people are running businesses. So supporting alcohol sales isn't for the drunks. It's for the moms and dad's raising families through restraints and for the small business owners we pride ourselves selves on so much. Why take away one day for those people to profit more.
Not allowing Sunday alcohol sales does not stop people from getting it. They just drive farther and put their money in other counties. And all we can do is hope they aren't drinking and driving on their way back. So you may as well allow it and put the money in our own community.
It's time to give all businesses the same opportunity or level playing field countywide. This is a legal product sold 7 days a week in more than half of the county. Freedom of choice is at stake, those who want it can buy alcohol on sundays, those who don't will not purchase alcohol on Sundays.
Sunday brunch needs alcohol, and it's an issue of religious morals affecting daily life regardless of belief. Just because it's someone's holy day of rest doesn't mean it's everyone's day of rest and contemplation.
County wide Liquor/Beer Sales will increase business, especially on Sundays, at both retail outlets and restaurants from all the folks coming over from Alabama!! I should know having 3 restaurants, several bars & a liquor store on the State Line at Perdido Key, where our hours are 6 am - 2:30 am, 7 days a week!
It's not right for the south side to have Sunday sales of alcohol and the north to be held to a different standard. The north side of Santa Rosa County is losing tax and revenue because people are just going across County lines to get it.

I hate having to jump to Escambia county on Sundays. Would love to be able to pop into Publix on Sunday and buy some beer when I buy some steaks for dinner.
