We the undersigned believe in liberty and that the freedom to sell alcohol to consenting adults should not be prohibited simply because of the day of the week. The owner of the establishment and the adult purchaser should be allowed the choice of any day of the week that they so choose to enact their private transaction. It is not the place of our county government to control, restrict, limit, or regulate the day of the week that free enterprise takes place.

Updates

October 29, 2017

The feedback from local business owners has been eye-opening. We are working on plans to bring this issue directly to the county commissioners.

The momentum is undeniable now. People are clearly ready for this shift in local policy.

I don’t drink but feel it should be left up to the business and consumer. This will also allow for more revenue into the county.

Getting ready to go to Pike County today to spend my money. Would rather spend it in Lamar.

The County is in great need of funds to operate. The people that are going to drink or buy alcohol on Sunday go to Spaulding County or other counties that sell on Sunday and they get the tax revenue that Lamar County needs to improve and upgrade, in lieu of raising property taxes. The county needs to increase the fines for driving under the influence. Anyone that knows me will tell you that if I consume more than two beers a week, if that much, that something must be wrong. I do not drink and drive, only consume after a hard day working. I do not believe it is a sin to consume an alcoholic beverage but it is a sin to get drunk, make a fool of your self or deprive your family.

I Won't personally be buying alcohol on Sunday, but I strongly believe that these types of regulations limit our liberty!

Some people believe Saturday is the Sabbath some believe it is Sunday. They might as well legalize it in Lamar County because all the counties around us already sale it on Sunday. We might as well get the tax money in Lamar County.

I believe they should allow Sunday sales of alcohol in Lamar Co. It's not fair to us who have to pay taxes on everything else in this county and still not have any say so just because of a few people who are against it for a "just because they can be" reason.
