The school committee has officially confirmed the retention of the school resource officer program in our district. This outcome reflects the community commitment toward maintaining secure and supportive environments for our students. Please continue to look for ways to engage with the department as they begin the next academic year.

School resource officers (SROs) are police officers who work in elementary, middle and high schools. They are responsible for working with school administrators, security staff and faculty on developing comprehensive safety plans to ensure schools are safe places for students to learn. More importantly, these officers work to build positive and lasting relationships with the students. In signing this petition you are in full support of the SRO program and want a specialized police officer assigned to our Easthampton Public School System.

The principals and asst principals want this. Head of school Dr. Pasquini wants this. Dr. LeClair wants this. Please make it happen. Our students need this RESOURCE ; we cannot afford to pass on it and deny students support!

Officer Allen Schadel was the best! Everybody loved him in my time at the old EHS, to even fathom that debating this program is a thing, is ridiculous. It adds extra security and shows children that police are not the enemy. Former easthampton resident for 90% of my life

I work in the elementary school & closely with the SRO. It was wonderful to have him in my classroom supporting the teachers & students. Whom looked forward to seeing him there & the hallways

This was an important person to me when I was in school. He always listened to both sides of every situation and made decisions to help both sides. Safety and fairness is needed to make sure students are treated well when not in their parents' presents.

While I support an SRO in the school, I highly recommend review of best practices related to SRO’s involvement in school disciplinary situations and the development of a clear and concise Memorandum of Understanding signed by all parties.

I have always supported the SRO in the Easthampton schools while my son attended. He graduated in 2011 but the school was a much better, safer place with the officer there. I wish we had been able to have one when I was in EHS from 1981-1985. It would be a huge mistake to remove the position.

There is not a SINGLE NEGATIVE thing that can come from have an SRO in our schools! I see the positives every single day working for a neighboring school district and sharing my classroom with our amazing SRO! I pray Easthampton takes off their ignorance lenses and makes the best choice for The majority of our student. An ally, a mentor, a safe space, a positive role model a police officer with a heart for youth and a heart of service.
