The 800 Mission Avenue Senior Housing Project will provide much needed Senior Housing on a currently vacant lot.
The Aegis San Rafael Project, at the corner of Mission and Lincoln, has accomplished a great deal over the past summer months. The project was praised, and unanimously approved, at the June 5th Design Review Board Meeting, the Use Permit was approved at the July 10th Planning Commission Hearing, and an additional contribution was offered to help the City address affordable housing. Neighbors are excited for the iconic building which provides a key community benefit, and reduces traffic and parking impacts to the Downtown.
The project provides a tremendous amount benefits to San Rafael including:
• Senior Housing
• High Paying Jobs
• Enhanced Pedestrian Safety
• Quiet Residents
• Less Traffic
•Increased Economic Activity
•Improved Gateway
• Local Jobs & Housing
• 5-Star Care for Seniors
Two San Rafael residents filed an appeal in opposition of the Project. This appeal is flawed, discriminatory and inaccurate. The underlying message of the appeal is that these appellants would rather see the site, which is located well to the north of the Downtown Core, be utilized for 'workforce housing,' and that senior citizens do not contribute to the Downtown. The appeal fails to recognize the tremendous amount of benefits this project brings to San Rafael.

I would rather see this location house our cherished senior population than another stack & pack highdensity WinCup shoebox!!!
