The university has agreed to work with Metro Coffee and ensure it remains a part of our campus. I never imagined this would actually happen but you all proved me wrong. Thank you for showing up for this space and for each other.

Metro Coffee is a well-loved, significant member of the UW Tacoma campus culture.

As a café and social setting, Metro Coffee provides a unique experience that students, faculty, staff, and external community members value. Metro is a welcoming, informal hub for the kind of meaningful interactions and exchanges we struggle to find on a decentralized campus. It offers more than a classic university coffee shop menu and setting; it offers a sense of belonging.

As an independently owned, small business, Metro Coffee embodies the ideal urban campus-community relationship. Metro is well known to support campus and city events and organizations. It partners with other small businesses to bring the best coffee, tea, and food options to UWT. Metro is a favorite meeting place and a regular part of many of our lives.

Metro Coffee has worked with the campus through many construction projects and infrastructure issues. It anchors an historical building and is an excellent use of the space.

We urge the university to work with Metro Coffee. We want this vibrant place to be preserved and supported as our university grows. It is part of the UWT family.

I honestly never imagined we would see one hundred signatures when I started this. It has been overwhelming to see so many people choose to support Metro Coffee today. This is truly your doing and I am just so grateful to have your help.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to support Metro Coffee. We are just a few signatures away from the next milestone and it is entirely because of your passion for this place. If you have a moment today please help us pull this across the line so we can show how much this café means to our campus.

As a UWT retiree, I know the value of Metro Coffee to our campus community over a long span if time. Please preserve this part of our history and make a commitment to practice what our education teaches us.

Metro is an integral part of the local downtown Tacoma network. They exhibit so many local artists and carry Mad Hat tea from down the street. UW Tacoma will have a weaker connection with the community if Metro is forced to close.

I would walk to the main strip to buy from Metro Coffee instead of buying from a "commercial chain coffee shop". I do not understand why the University of Washington would consider moving Metro Coffee out of the Campus and putting in a chain coffee shop.

Metro Coffee is the type of successful university/community partnership that the campus claims to want to support and help create. Closure would seem contrary to the campus Values of Community, Diversity and Innovation -http://www.tacoma.uw.edu/chancellor/mission-values-and-vision

Metro Coffee is an integral part of the UWT community. I go there nearly every day, and I've had many meetings there. Many great ideas have come from chance meetings of faculty and staff at Metro. The space that Metro occupies does not need to be "re-purposed." It ALREADY HAS a purpose.

Metro Coffee embodies the interdiciplinary focus at UWT. At Metro students, faculty, and staff connect organically, outside of the formal meeting places on campus. I regularly schedule meetings with colleagues across campus here as it is a welcoming location.
