We, the undersigned members of the City of New Haven, petition the courts to afford Jason Santiago the ability to return and serve our community as a Police Officer. Jason Santiago has served the New Haven Police Department for 8 years carrying out the department's mission statement with professionalism, fairness, and absolute integrity. Jason Santiago has a lengthy history of putting our citizens first and keeping our community safe. As a result, the City of New Haven is a better place due to his service.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens of New Haven who urge our court system to act now and restore justice for Jason Santiago.

***This petition is for signatures only not for any donations. (All donations go to this website - not Officer Jason Santiago).

Updates

September 21, 2020

The process is moving slower than anyone expected and the silence from the courts has been heavy. I am still pushing forward because the integrity Jason showed during his years on the force deserves a fair look.

September 21, 2020

Seeing this kind of movement is exhausting and encouraging all at once. It confirms that the community remembers Jason and the integrity he brought to this city every day. We are staying the course.

He’s an honorable man whom I have had the pleasure of working with on calls. He is one of the good officers! He’s active in the community and has a true passion for his job and the New Haven Community.

Officer Santiago is a man of Great Character. Having known him personally for 10 plus years, he has consistently been a leader in his community, on and off duty, always there to help those in need. Officer Santiago is and will always be a leader, with the upmost character and should be given the opportunity to use his skills for the betterment of his community.

jason should get his job back. After this incident occured jason was allowed to work on the force for 4 months and be on patrol. This was an overreaction response to the current police climate

I've seen how Jason takes care of our community first hand as a firefighter. This community and department needs more people like him. We deserve better. He deserves better. Please restore this man's job so he can continue helping our citizens as he has done so in the past.

I’m a retired New Haven police officer. A dinosaur who was a cop for 23 yrs.(1975-1998). I had been assigned to the Patrol Division, Street Crime-Narcotics Unit as well as the Investigative Services Unit. When I heard what happened to Jason I obtained his personal phone number from a New Haven cop who was a friend of his . I told Jason that EVERYONE knew he was being screwed & he was being supported 100%. I also told him I was having a small party in my yard in which several active & retired cops would be in attendance. He respectfully declined. Over the phone I could feel that he was disappointed and frustrated over losing his job, which he loved. He didn’t tell me but I’d heard previously that he had just recently, before he was fired, dragged someone out of a burning car, saving the guy’s life. And this guy was fired? I may be wrong but I think that the New Haven Police Internal Affairs Unit even cleared him of any wrong-doing , saying that HE was assaulted. The liberal city of New Haven . . . . WTF did we expect ! Best of luck Jason.

A humble individual who does great for the community. I have been on calls with him and is a class act. Give this man his job back and let’s stop playing with people’s lives to push a false narrative.
