Maryanne Ceriello is a teacher deeply embedded into the fabric of Sargent life and has committed 22 years to teaching physical education to Beacon students. Now just 3 years shy of retirement, Mrs. Ceriello is being involuntarily transferred to JVF weeks before the beginning of the school year. This devastating move has blindsided both staff and Sargent families.
Mrs. Ceriello is dearly loved by Sargent students and parents and transferring her right before the start of the school year will be harmful to the school climate. Mrs. Ceriello creates a wonderful, welcoming environment for Sargent students and her presence at the school is important for our children. Her complete dedication to the kids and her enthusiasm and love for teaching at Sargent is undeniable.
We've seen numerous transfers in recent years at Sargent that have included administration, teachers, and support staff. We owe it to our kids to create stability at their school and allowing Mrs. Ceriello to finish out her career at Sargent is extremely important to the undersigned parents, collegues, and students- past and present:
I had her from k-5 as my gym teacher and honestly she was my favorite gym teacher of all time. She always knew how to make gym class fun for everyone. She organized many events like field day and walk to school day. She even volunteers to go to the annual 5th grade trip to Sharpe. She helped make my experience at Sargent unforgettable
